Disk pain
Problems with the disks themselves: disk painTwo articles highlight the indication of disk pain, not to be confused with other forms of pain, that don't result from the disks themselves.
Among other indications as
- protruding disks
- herniated disks
- stiffened, fixated disks
the intervertebral disk pain is one that is connected to the use of discography, an intradisk injection procedure. The author notes, that "isolated disk pain can be exactly and effectively treated." The treatise on laser treatment of intervertebral disks mentions two different disk pain indications, that belong to this minimal-invasive procedure:
- disk pain caused by diskography (x-ray of the intervertebral disks with contrast medium)
- disk pain which benefits from injection of local anesthetics into the disk
In this context the author points to the "shrinking effect ", that "reduces disk size and relieves the affected nerve root"
